Obama-pushes-for-China-Dalai-talks

BEIJING: Describing Tibet as part of China, US President Barack Obama on Tuesday supported the early resumption of talks between Beijing and representatives of the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama.

“We did note that while we recognise that Tibet is part of the People’s Republic of China, the United States supports the early resumption of dialogue” between the Dalai Lama’s representatives and Beijing,” Obama said after his meeting with Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao here.

China, which has governed Tibet since its troops occupied the territory in the 1950s, has repeatedly accused the Dalai Lama of leading a campaign to split the Himalayan region from the rest of the country.

The 74-year-old Dalai Lama, who fled to India amid a failed uprising against Chinese rule in 1959, has denied the allegations.

The last formal talks between the Dalai Lama’s envoys and Chinese officials, the seventh since 2002, ended in an impasse in July last year, with China demanding that he prove that he did not support Tibetan independence.

Relations have been particularly tense this year after large scale riots in Lhasa, Tibet’s capital, in which hundreds of shops were torched and Chinese civilians were attacked.

Ranbir-Tipped-As-Next-Male-Superstar

MUMBAI : For years, Amitabh Bachchan and the three Khans, Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman have been Bollywood’s leading male actors. But a new man now looks set to join them and he is none other than Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir has received rave reviews for his latest film, “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani” (An Amazing Story Of Strange Love), and is tipped by colleagues and critics to follow his grandfather and father to acting super-stardom.

“Ranbir has all the makings of a superstar,” said the film’s director, Rajkumar Santoshi. “He is multi-talented and good-looking, too. He can carry humorous as well as serious roles with quite an ease.”

But the 27-year-old brushes aside such talk, instead preferring to build up experience in a range of films to prove his worth as an actor and not just a name in a business and country where family connections go a long way.

“Please don’t give me such titles,” he told reporters recently, referring to descriptions of him as “the next big thing.”

“I have a long way to go. I have only been in the film industry for two years and I am working hard to prove myself.

“My next film is ‘Rocket Singh — Salesman Of The Year’ for Yash Raj films, then ‘Rajneeti’ (Politics), which is a serious subject. I want to do good films and all kinds of films.”

Kapoor has had a meteoric rise to fame since he was first seen in “Saawariya” (My Beloved) in November 2007. The film did not do well, but his potential was noticed.

Last year, he had moderate success with the romantic comedy “Bachna Ae Haseeno” (Watch Out, Beautiful Girls) and then the comedy-drama “Wake Up Sid”, which was a huge hit.

In “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani”, he stars alongside Katrina Kaif, who has had an equally rapid rise since switching from modelling to movies and is now one of Bollywood’s most bankable stars.

The film — about a love-struck teenager — took 337.5 million rupees (seven million dollars) in its first five days, according to www.boxofficeindia.com, while its soundtrack has rocketed to the top of the music charts.

Taran Adarsh, a leading Hindi-language movie industry analyst, predicted that the film’s success should benefit Kapoor “to the maximum”, with Bachchan now in his mid-60s and the Khans all aged over 40.

“‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ has taken the nation by storm,” he wrote in his column on the popular www.bollywoodhungama.com website. “It had a great start, a fabulous weekend, a solid Monday and most importantly, the film has stepped into the coveted top five openers list of all time and that is a major achievement.

“He has truly arrived now and whether his contemporaries like it or not, he has all it takes to stake a claim to the throne in times to come.”

Another film critic said Kapoor had already proved that he was more than just a famous name.

“In a country given to a continuous tradition of lineages, there are few instances when the pure class of pedigree shines brightly through the clutter,” wrote Minty Tejpal in the Mumbai Mirror tabloid.

“Even as Rahul Gandhi charms a vast, complicated country, it seems that Ranbir Kapoor can do nothing wrong. He is just fantastic through the film,” Tejpal wrote, referring to Gandhi, the youth leader of India’s ruling Congress party.

“Ranbir is the rare star who makes you laugh and tugs at your heart strings in the same mad beat, thus keeping you constantly charmed.”

Kaif said her co-star had inherited the acting genes of his father, Rishi, and grandfather, Raj, who remain revered figures in the industry, but he also works hard at his craft.

“You have to work with him to understand how disciplined he is on set,” the 25-year-old Kaif said. “He is very punctual and knows every aspect of film-making, which is a rare quality in actors.”

Alleged 9/11 Plotter To Face Exacting Justice, Obama

Alleged 9-11 Plotter To Face Exacting Justice, ObamaTOKYO: President Barack Obama said Friday that the alleged September 11, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed would face “justice demanding” U.S., following reports that will be tried in a civilian court in New York.

“I am absolutely convinced that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is subject to the highest standards of justice,” Obama said at a news conference in Tokyo on the first leg of his four-nation tour of Asia.

Obama did not confirm that Mohammed and four alleged conspirators to be gained from Guantanamo Bay to face trial in New York. But he said the U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder would make an announcement in Washington later on Friday.

2012 Movie Review

2012 Movie ReviewThe final day extravaganza 2012 is not only porn disaster movie trailers and television commercials promise.

It’s much, much more stupid than that.

Massive changes in the outcome of the planet’s crust in the leveling of entire continents – however, cellular phone service remains uninterrupted.

Billions flee for their lives around the world – but the same half dozen continuous random character of execution itself.

U.S. President avoids being crushed by the Washington Monument – to end up getting hit in the kisser by a carrier.

I could go on, but the conclusion is that 2012 is a very silly and often very funny movie.

Whether that humor is intentional can be debated – and probably the time comes to DVD in 2012 and quickly became a drinking game. (Drink every time a character gradually moves away from the camera in fear terror; do a double shot whenever he or she whispers, “Oh … My … God.”)

The director Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow) seems proverbial swinging for the fences, as if he realized that no study of string will so much money, and this freedom more.

The film, which destroys everything, from Sin City (Las Vegas) to the city without sin (the Vatican), has been criticized for exploiting our “post-9/11 fears.” The charges could have hit if it were possible to take seriously even remotely 2012.

Emmerich is a style of Irwin Allen, “Master of Disaster” for the digital age – a filmmaker in love with the story of the old school, as well as innovative technical skill. The two mix like oil and water, which means that the product is completely useless, but actually quite nice, if well lit.

Stars John Cusack as a father divorced and struggling writer who runs a limousine for a Russian billionaire (Zlatko Buric), which may or may not have inside information about the government built spaceships designed to preserve the human race after a cataclysm that Mayan calendar schedule.

Breathe deeply.

Meanwhile, a geologist (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and a bureaucrat (Oliver Platt) to advise the president (Danny Glover), while disputes over the rights of innocent citizens, including Kate (Amanda Peet), the mother of writer and Limousine driver of children – who left her husband for a plastic surgeon (Tom McCarthy), whose flight experience could be useful as long as the Earth becomes a giant pit.

Did I mention that the movie is two hours and 38 minutes?

At some points, I was tempted to nip. Emmerich did actually get a respected actor Sprint Cusack as a track in the center of Yellowstone National Park while dodging the fireballs the size of condominiums – even if the whole thing was filmed on a soundstage in front of a green screen ?

The strange sequence types dramatically – and there are many – that 2012 is more pleasant than it is right to be. It is possible that Emmerich has made it the most expensive car of the hit parody of modern cinema.

Or it could be quite serious. Anyway, the movie is a big, dumb Hoot.

Carrie Prejean Confirms SexTape Video

Carrie Prejean Confirms SexTape VideoCarrie Prejean, some might remember, is the beauty queen from California who won the instant outrage in some quarters by agreeing with President Obama ridiculous idea that marriage is a union between a man and a woman.
This was said to Prejean outrageously conservative, while Obama, a man and said the same across the endless election campaign, was rated the most liberal member of U.S. Senate a year ago. That must be what passes for progress today.
Both liberals and conservatives have been talking and laughing and pointing fingers of hypocrisy since. Furthermore, Prejean had breast augmentation, some perceptive critics noted, which is surely unthinkable for any woman in America, much less those who participate successfully in the business of beauty.
Anyway, Prejean California lost her Miss USA sash when she allegedly failing to …
… Provisions aspect of his contract because he was too busy becoming a conservative icon. As the soul of almost every breath in public life this month, he has written a book.
It is titled “Still Standing,” which some people may view as having a double meaning in the context of a sex tape, but not us. Sean Hannity, who also has a reputation dangerously conservative, wrote the foreword to the book and 22 years of age the author in his Fox News Channel program last night.
As so succinctly, “We could go right to it.”

Mahesh Bhatt Unhappy With Tum Mile

Mahesh Bhatt Unhappy With Tum MileMUMBAI: The director was furious when he learned that Tum Mile, formerly planned as a love story has become more than a tragedy. Bhatt did turn a bit of magic in the editing table, however, and have the defects corrected.

Mahesh cut 10 minutes of scenes of flooding. The film is based on July 2005 deluge in Mumbai. Bhatt told a newspaper, “The film did not turn out the way they had envisioned Kunal. The film is not about the disaster, but the love story. I just relaxed disaster scenes to make it more viewer friendly.”

Commenting on the edit you made Bhatt, director Kunal Deshmukh said: “I was totally against cut some parts of flood scenes, because I thought that really stood out. Bhattsaab wanted to play up the angle of love and understood your point of view when I saw the film after 10 minutes was dead. I loved the flow. “

Katrina Kaif Bothered By Constant Media Glare

Katrina Kaif Bothered By Constant Media GlareMUMBAI: She may have been Google’s most wanted Indian celebrity and one of the top Bollywood actors, Katrina Kaif, but said the constant gaze of the media in her personal life still hurt.

The 25-year-old actor said he hated the time, but has written about given up trying to fight it.

“The thing that bothers me is that the media did not even bother to listen to my version of history. I tried to explain my point several times, but falls on deaf years,” he told Reuters Kaif.

Kaif is no stranger to connections with some of the leading men of Bollywood.

She has recently been linked with actor Ranbir Kapoor, who starred in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ which premiered in theaters last week.

“I’d be lying if I said I did not bother to talk about this, but I’ve noticed that not much can be done about it.

I would like to write about it much, “said Kaif.

Kaif is the most unlikely success story of Bollywood.

If a stranger who spoke with a heavy British accent and imperfect Hindi diction, Kaif has risen to be one of the most sought after actresses in the industry.

“I know what people say about me, but again, preferred to ignore. All are entitled to their opinion,” she said.

Kaif will now be seen in De Priyadarshan of “Dana Dan ‘, a comedy which also stars Akshay Kumar and will be his third release this year.

India, US United Against Extremists In

India, US United Against Extremists In Afghanistan- BushNew Delhi, India and the U.S., the world’s largest democracies, need to work together to win the battle against extremists in Afghanistan, former U.S. President George W Bush said on Saturday.

Addressing a summit of leaders on Saturday, Bush said: “The U.S. and India must work together to win the war inAfghanistan.”

In a brief speech he delivered before a select audience, Bush warned: “If the Taliban, Al Qaeda and the extremists are allowed to take over Afghanistan, which would have a safe haven again.”
Terrorist attacks

India is a natural ally of the U.S. in the fight against terrorism, he said.

“Our two countries are engaged in an ideological struggle against the fundamentalists. They hate our lives, our vision of human rights … We must use our intelligence to find, disrupt their networks and bring them to justice,” he said. The two countries “wanted to promote our values of freedom, tolerance and hope.”

Former U.S. president insisted that the best way to fight terrorism would be to promote the values of justice and freedom.

He said the U.S. and India should be one of the best relationships in the world. “It will not happen immediately.”

Better intelligence and military is the best way to combat terrorism.

He further noted that Osama bin Laden is alive and hiding.

The 26/11

Bush expressed his “deepest condolences” to victims and families who suffered in the terrorist attack in Mumbai in November 2008, which left some 170 dead, noting that the anniversary of the terror attacks of 26/11 was around the corner.

Like 9 / 11 on U.S. 26/11 served as a “moment of clarity” in India, he said.

He also referred to terrorist attacks in the Parliament of India and the Indian Embassy in Kabul.

Indo-US nuke deal

Bush has described the nuclear deal signed by Washington and New Delhi during his presidency, as India’s passport to the world. The nuclear agreement India’s economy, Bush said.

Addressing a summit of leaders on Saturday, Bush said the “historic” agreement will help India gain its rightful place in the world.

The agreement will give India an opportunity to get energy without pollution, he added.

“(By signing the agreement), the U.S. recognize India’s nuclear weapons program. It is India’s passport to the world,” Bush said.

“In 2006 we signed a historic agreement …. India now has the opportunity to get energy without pollution.”

Bush, whose foreign policy during his eight-year tenure was marked by a strong belief in unilateral U.S. power, said India was a priority in its foreign policy.

El Comercio

The former U.S. president said India was to help the world recover from the financial crisis in the world.
